Ahmed White vs. Deron Winn

Round 1

White lands a low kick immediately and Winn briefly tumbles to the mat before hustling two his feet. White is holding his hands low, baiting Winn to attack. Winn moves forward with heavy punches but White circles away and snaps off a jab. They tie up and Winn staggers White with a left hook. White shoots out of desperation and Winn sprawls easily. He lands some ground-and-pound before letting White back to his feet. Another stiff jab lands for White followed by a hard low kick. White still keeping his hands low and Winn makes him pay, dodging a left hook before buckling him a big right hand. Winn is on top of his foe immediately, landing a few more follow-up blows before referee Mike Beltran waves off the bout.

David Rivera vs. Justin Tenedora

Round 1

Tendedora counters a low kick with a right hand. They tie up and Tenedora goes for a takedown, but its Rivera who ends up on top. He lands some ground-and-pound before Tenedora scrambles to top position. Tendedora escapes a guillotine and passes to full mount. He postures up and unloads with punches and elbows. Rivera does a good job blocking many of the blows, and the bout is allowed to continue. Rivera regains half guard, then full guard at about the halfway point. Even in guard, Tenedora lands a series of hard right hands. Rivera wall walks to his feet and turns his foe into the cage. Tenedora lands a big knee on the break. They swing wildly for a bit before clinching. Rivera sticks and jab and attempts to close the distance with more punches. He clinches with Tenedora and lands a takedown after being turned into the fence. Rivera attempts to land ground-and-pound but quickly finds himself ensared in a triangle choke. It’s tight, and Rivera falls to his side and taps as Tenedora pulls down on the head.

Gaston Bolanos vs. Malcolm Hill

Round 1

Bolanos lands a glancing left hand upstairs, then attacks with a series of low kicks to Hill’s lead leg. Bolanos catches a front kick tosses Hill to his back. He lets his opponent back up and resumes attacking the lead leg of Hill. Another couple chopping low kicks land and Hill is in obvious distress. Hill falls to his back and Bolanos dives into his opponent’s guard with ground-and-pound. Hill his limiting his foe’s offense by controlling his posture and closing his guard. After a short period of that, referee Frank Trigg orders a standup. Trigg requests that Hill walk to him before the action resumes, but Hill can only limp forward meagerly. As a result, the bout is waved off.

Danasabe Mohammed vs. James Terry

Round 1

After a few exchanges, Terry changes levels and lands a takedown about 25 seconds in. Terry passes from half guard to side control, but Mohammed recovers half guard quickly. Terry is still working to pass guard, but he’s struggling to free is right leg, as his foot is trapped by Mohammed’s legs. Finally, Terry achieves side control. He stays heavy with pressure from above as the clock hits 1:30. Terry is smothering Mohammed from side control, and he looks to set up a crucifix with less than a minute remaining. Terry controls the positioning for the majority of the round, and Mohammed only returns to his feet with just seconds remaining. 10-9 Terry.

Round 2

Terry charges forward and shoots for a takedown behind a high kick. He puts Mohammed on his back near the fence within the round’s first 15 seconds. Terry lands short left hands as he gradually passes from half guard to side control. Mohammed isn’t doing much to escape, and this is setting up as a repeat of the opening frame. Terry stays active with left hands from above. Terry works his leg over and traps Mohammed’s right arm in a crucifix. Terry feeds his opponent a series of short left hands to the head. Mohammed tries to buck free, but it’s to no avail. Terry switches to short elbows and referee Mike Beltran is taking a closer look with 30 seconds remaining. Terry goes back to punches, but the blows aren’t hard enough to stop the fight. 10-8 Terry.

Round 3

Terry probes with a high kick as he attempts to close the gap on Mohammed. Mohammed catches a low kick to the lead leg after it lands. As Terry moves forward, Mohammed connects with a jab. Terry changes levels and gets Mohammed to the mat with a single leg at about the 3:30 mark. Terry lands in side control and he lands a couple knees to the ribs of Mohammed. Terry continues to stay busy with knees from side control. Terry maintains control as the clock ticks down. More knees from Terry, who seems content to smother Mohammed from side control. Again, Mohammed isn’t offering much in the way of resistance from his back. Mohammed recovers full guard with about 35 seconds to go in the fight. Mohammed is active with his guard, and he briefly threatens for an armbar before Terry scrambles back into side control. That’s how the fight will end. 10-9 Terry (30-26 Terry).

Janay Harding vs. Amber Leibrock

Round 1

Harding jabs her way into range and forces the clinch. Both featherweights are trading knees in close quarters. Leibrock assumes control, lands a couple knees before Harding turns her foe into the fence. Leibrock continues to land knees to the midsection of her opening in the clinch. The women remain in the clinch, but Leibrock continues to deliver knees to the gut. They separate and Harding lands a couple elbows before Leibrock answers with a left. The fighters return to the center of the cage. Harding looks more comfortable landing offense at range. Leibrock backs up Harding with a counter left. Leibrock connects with a hard left hook. Harding presses the action and follows a body kick with a left hand. Harding picks up the pace, attacking with another body kick and punches against the fence. A straight right from Leibrock snaps Hardin’s head back. Harding staggers to her knees after eating a right hand. Leibrock ends the round with some more hard right hands, but Harding stays in it. 10-9 Leibrock.

Round 2

Leibrock follows a low kick with a punching combination. A liver kick lands for Leibrock. Harding marches forward and lands a few right hands before Leibrock lands a hard right hand counter of her own. That backs Harding up for a moment. Harding forces the action with kicks to the body and then short elbows in close quarters. They tie up and Leibrock pushes her opponent into the cage and lands a knee. Harding lands an elbow and a punch in close. A hard body kick cracks Harding, who backs up Leibrock with a right hand. Harding pushes the pace, teeing off on Leibrock with punches, elbows and knees against the fence. Leibrock grabs a leg to slow down the assault. Leibrock lands a pair of glancing head kicks. A front kick by Leibrock finds Harding’s face. Leibrock continues the kicking attack as the round ends. 10-9 Harding.

Round 3

Right off the bat, the featherweights meet in the center of the cage and trade punches and kicks. Both Leibrock and Harding continue to mix up their attacks. A kick to the body lands for Leibrock. Moments later, a high kick lands for Leibrock and Harding tumbles to the mat. However, it appears that Harding’s fall was due to a lack of balance. Leibrock attacks the body with another left liver kick. Leibrock stays persistent with her kicks. A right hand lands clean for Leibrock, but Harding eats it without issue. Both fighters have maintained a high pace as the fight winds down. Leibrock lands a knee in the Thai plum and then separates. A front kick from Leibrock sends Harding back just before the fight ends. 10-9 Leibrock (29-28 Leibrock)

Brandon Hester vs. Jordan Williams

Round 1

Williams closes the distance and attacks with punches in close. Hester shoots for a takedown but Williams ends up on top after a scramble. Hester explodes to his feet and pushes Williams into the fence. Hester tries to execute a foot sweep. Moments later, Hester fails on a throw and pulls Williams on top of him. Williams briefly steps into full mount and lands some punches, but Hester gets up quickly. Hester drives for a takedown against the fence. Hester pulls his foe away and takes his man down. Hester takes the back, but he’s too high and Williams shakes him off and lands in side control. Williams lands some elbows from top position and Hester is cut. Williams has a rear-body lock as Hester stands. Hester breaks the grip and drops for a double-leg takedown against the fence. Williams defends and tries to land some elbows, but they’re to the back of the head. The round ends with Williams defending the takedown. 10-9 Williams.

Round 2

They trade heavy punches in close and Williams appears to tag Hester. Hester goes to the mat and Williams tries to take the back in a scramble. Williams lands some elbows before the middleweights return to their feet. Williams stun Hester with a short right hand counter to the jaw. Hester folds over and Williams lands about four or five follow-up strikes before Jason Herzog waves off the bout.

Carrington Banks vs. Adam Piccolotti

Round 1

Banks lands an outside leg kick. Banks looks for a single leg takedown about 45 seconds in. Piccolotti defends the attempt up against the fence. Banks tries to connect his hands for a double-leg and he is able to get Piccolotti down for a moment. Piccolotti uses a switch to get up, but Banks takes him right back down. Piccolotti again hustles to his feet. Banks pins his foe against the cage, and Piccolotti delivers a knee to the body. Banks secures a takedown, but once more Piccolotti hustles right back up. Banks has Piccolotti against the fence but referee Frank Trigg isn’t seeing enough there and orders the fighters to separate. Banks counters a body kick with a right hand. A right hand over the top rocks Piccolotti, who changes levels and secures a takedown. Piccolotti quickly achieves full mount with about 1:00 to go. Banks holds on to a body lock to limit his opponent’s offense. Piccolotti transitions to the back and for an armbar in a series of scrambles, but it’s Banks who ends the period on top. 10-9 Banks.

Round 2

Banks lands a job as Piccolotti moves forward. Piccolotti lands a body kick. Piccolotti lands a jab followed by a low kick before changing levels for a takedown. Banks sprawls and defends it. Piccolotti misses an overhand and Piccolotti answers with a front kick. Piccolotti lands a body kick before shooting for a takedown. He shoves Banks into the fence and then tosses his foe to the mat. Piccolotti has both hooks in, hunting for the rear-naked choke. Piccolotti works to slide his arm under Banks’ chin, but for now it’s more of a neck crank than a choke. Piccolotti continues to applies the squeeze, then lets up to drop some punches to the ribs. Piccolotti looks to create an opening to get the choke bu landing punches. Piccolotti has a body triangle secured as he opens up with ground-and-pound. Piccolotti alternates punches to the side of the head from Banks’ back, and Trigg issues a warning for Banks to defend himself. Piccolotti falls backward and goes back to the neck crank as the round winds down. Banks is going to survive, but this was a completely dominant frame for Piccolotti. 10-8 Piccolotti.

Round 3

Piccolotti opens as the aggressor, stalking Banks near the fence. He shoots against the cage and Banks utilizes a wide base to defend. Piccolotti lands a solid outside leg kick, then follows up with a body kick. Banks explodes for a double leg and takes Piccolotti down across the cage. Piccolotti transitions to an armbar, then takes Banks back swiftly in a scramble. Piccolotti has the body triangle secured and he drops some punches to the ribs. Banks battles to control his opponent’s hands to prevent the choke. Piccolotti picks his spots to land offense, alternating left hands to the ribs and head. Piccolotti continues to throw punches in an attempt to create an opening for a submission. With about 30 seconds left, it appears that Piccolotti has finally slid his right arm under Banks’ chin. Seconds later, Banks confirms it by tapping out. Piccolotti has handed Banks his first career MMA defeat.

Javy Ayala vs. Cheick Kongo

Round 1

Ayala looks to pressure early. The heavyweights clinch briefly and then separate. Ayala shoots for a takedown, then pushes Kongo against the fence. Kongo lands a few short knees to the midsection as Ayala grinds away. Ayala drops for a single-leg takedown, and Kong continues to defend. The heavyweights remain engaged in the clinch, and Ayala swings wildly when they separate. Nothing lands, however. Kongo connects with an outside leg kick. Ayala lunges in with an overhand right, but Kongo dodges it and connects with a short, clean right-hand counter to the chin. Ayala instantly falls backward to the canvas and the Frenchman follows up with about six unanswered punches on the ground before referee Josh Rosenthal intervenes to halt the bout. The knockout victory ends a five-fight decision streak for Kongo, who has won six in a row in the Bellator cage.

Aaron Pico vs. Lee Morrison

Round 1

Pico tags Morrison with a right in an early exchange. Morrison is aggressive, attacking with combinations. Pico digs to the body and they contne to trade. Pico lands a right hand as Morrison attempts a kick. Pico follows him to the mat and unloads with ground and pound. Morrison appears to be in trouble, but he is eventually able to defend himself and return to his feet. Moments later, however, the prospect hurts Morrison badly with a ripping left hook to the body. That liver shot sucks the life out of Morrison, who falls to his back in defense mode. Pico takes the cue, follows Morrison to the ground and finishes his opponent off with a series of punches on the mat. After a disastrous professional debut, Pico has won three consecutive bouts.

Paul Daley vs. Jon Fitch

Round 1

Fitch takes the center of the cage as Daley circles on the outside, moving back and forth. This lasts approximately 30 seconds before Fitch lands a leg kick and shoots against the fence. Daley sprawls but Fitch has the Brit pressed against the fence. Fitch drops low in pursuit of the takedown, as Daley continues to defend. Fitch adjusts and looks to connect his hands on a single leg. About halfway through the round and the boos are beginning to come out at the SAP center. Fitch is spending a lot of energy on the takedown try. It’s a methodical process, but Fitch is gradually getting Daley’s legs out from under him. In the meantime, Fitch lands some left hands to Daley’s face. Daley gets back to his feet, but Fitch clings to a leg. With a little less than a minute left, ref Jasn Herzog finally orders a separation. Daley tags Fitch with a right hand and a left uppercut. “Semtex” is making the most of his time on the feet and fires off an uppercut and a knee. Daley unloads with more knees and elbows against the fence. It was a short burst of offense, but Daley may have stolen that round down the stretch. 10-9 Daley.

Round 2

Fitch pressures Daley to begin the round. He throws a right to the body and then gets a single-leg takedown against the fence. Daley is on his back and Fitch is in side control, a much better position than a round ago. Fitch methodically drops punches and elbows from above, and he steps his left leg over into full mount. He has Daley’s arm trapped as he lands a series of lefts to the Englishman’s mug. Fitch is much more effective in this round so far. Fitch is working his way to Daley’s back, and he stays busy land left hand punches to his opponent’s head. Daley rolls to his back, and Fitch is in his half guard. Fitch continues to remain active with lefts to the head and body. Daley recovers full guard, but Fitch continues to grind away from top position. Daley appears content to hold Fitch in his guard with one minute to go. Fitch lands more methodical ground-and-pound with Daley compressed and smashed against the fence. This round ends with Fitch in total control. 10-8 Fitch.

Round 3

Fitch wastes little time ducking under a Daley punch for a takedown within the first 10 seconds. Daley is up against the fence, with Fitch suffocating him from top position. Fitch is working his way to back mount, peppering his adversary with left hands once again. It appears that Daley has no defense for this approach, as Fitch continues to land punch after punch. The crowd doesn’t enjoy the display, but Fitch is unfazed as he lands shots under Daley’s arm. The punches aren’t enough to stop the fight, Fitch remains steady with the blows. Daley tries to control Fitch’s right hand, but that is doing nothing to stop Fitch from landing his lefts. With about a minute to go, Fitch keeps doing what he’s doing, and Daley appears to be complaining about the style of the fight as he continues to absorb punishment underneath his opponent. Daley offers up mock boos as Fitch continues to pound away at his foe until the bell mercifully brings an end to the welterweight bout. 10-8 Fitch (29-26 Fitch)

Ryan Bader vs. Muhammed Lawal

Round 1

A left hook at the outset from Bader cracks Lawal’s chin and drops the former Strikeforce champion to his seat. “King Mo” is badly hurt. Bader pounces on his dazed foe before he can stand and unleashes a furious barrage of punches on the ground. Referee Mike Beltran gives Lawal an opportunity to recover, but it’s not happening. Bader lands approximately eight to 10 right hands to Lawal’s head before the bout is halted. Bader has his fifth consecutive victory in short order and will advance to the semifinals of Bellator’s heavyweight grand prix to face Matt Mitrione at a date later this year.
