Bellator 232 Weigh-in Results: Robin van Roosmalen Misses by 9.25 Pounds, Fight Scrapped

Bellator MMA is back in Connecticut on Saturday to wrap a doubleheader with Bellator 232 by concluding the welterweight grand prix, and two fighters have missed weight while one bout has been nixed.

The main event of the card sees welterweight champion Rory MacDonald (169.25) rematch Douglas Lima (169.25) for the welterweight strap, 170-pound tournament title and a $1 million check. The two first met at Bellator 192, where MacDonald captured a decision to win the belt. In the tournament, the Canadian drew with Jon Fitch and advanced to the next round, where he beat Neiman Gracie over five rounds. On his side of the bracket, Lima put Andrey Koreshkov to sleep with a choke, and then knocked out by Michael Page. The co-main attraction is a 175-pound catchweight affair as outspoken knockout artist Paul Daley (174.75) takes on short-notice replacement and active lightweight Saad Awad (173).

Bellator 232 airs live on Dazn on Saturday, Oct. 26, with the main card kicking off 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The card also features a bantamweight bout between Patrick Mix (136) and Isaiah Chapman (136.25). In a 160-pound catchweight contest, Nick Newell (159.75) locks horns with Luis Muro (160). Placed on the main card on Friday is another 160-pound catchweight battle, this time between Kevin Ferguson Jr. (160) and Craig Campbell (158).

Two fighters came in over their respective limits: Chapman (136.25), who tipped the scales .25 pounds above the bantamweight cap, and he has been fined 20 percent of his purse. Also, Robin van Roosmalen (155.25)** weighed in 9.25 pounds above the featherweight limit. His main card bout with Cris Lencioni has been scrapped, and Lencioni has been paid his show money. According to the commission, van Roosmalen will also be forced to move up to the lightweight division going forward.
