Bellator 246 Weigh-in Results: Bantamweight Title Fight Set; 2 Heavy

Both parts of this weekend’s Bellator MMA doubleheader have been marred by fighters missing weight by a wide margin.

Bellator 246 ends the weekend on Sept. 12 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The top-billed match of the event is for the vacant bantamweight throne, as Juan Archuleta (24-2) squares off with Patrick Mix (13-0). A featherweight in his last three bouts, Archuleta competed in the Bellator featherweight grand prix and lost in a title fight to Patricio Freire just under one year ago. Since then, the California native bounced back with a decision win in January over Henry Corrales at 145 pounds to earn a bantamweight title shot. He weighed in at 134.6 pounds to make the championship limit with relative ease.

Facing Archuleta will be the unbeaten Mix, who has stormed through Bellator competition by racking up two first-round submissions over Ricky Bandejas and Isaiah Chapman. The Angola, New York, native’s last appearance came when the promotion shared him with Rizin Fighting Federation, and “Patchy” tapped Yuki Motoya in 97 seconds to earn his own Bellator title shot. Mix stepped on the scales and hit the bantamweight title cap of 135 pounds on the nose.

Drawing the co-main assignment is longtime vet Jon Fitch (170.5) as he returns to competition to take on Neiman Gracie (170.8) in the welterweight division. In one of two bouts where a fighter missed weight, Liz Carmouche (125.5) makes her Bellator debut against the heavy Invicta Fighting Championships staple DeAnna Bennett (131.7)* at a 132-pound catchweight. Rounding out the main card is another catchweight contest as Derek Campos (154) comes to blows with Keoni Diggs (157)**, with the latter a pound heavy for his lightweight match. Both of these heavy fighters will have their bouts rescheduled to catchweights so they will not be fined.

Bellator 246 will go down on Sept. 12, and the three-fight prelims will kick off at 8:45 p.m. ET/5:45 p.m. PT on Dazn and the Bellator YouTube channel. The main card begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, and it will air on Dazn and will likely be the final Bellator broadcast on Paramount Network.
