Four charges were filed against the fighter: driving with a suspended license, possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis, possession of MDMA (ecstasy) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Straus is being held at the North Broward Bureau Detention Center in Pompano Beach, Fla., on a bond of $2,200.

Straus, 28, was scheduled to contend for Bellator’s featherweight title on April 4 but was forced to withdraw from that Bellator 95 appearance due to a broken hand. Instead, champion Pat Curran will now face Season 7 tournament winner Shahbulat Shamhalaev.

A winner in 17 of his last 18 fights, Straus rebounded from his loss to Patricio Freire in Bellator’s Season 4 finals to capture the Season 6 crown last year, outpointing Jeremy Spoon, Mike Corey and Marlon Sandro to earn a $100,000 payday and a guaranteed title shot. Straus last saw action on Oct. 26, when he submitted UFC veteran Alvin Robinson with a rear-naked choke at Bellator 78.
