Bellator's bantamweight division is receiving one of Brazil's finest prospects.
"We are very happy about this news. It's more proof of the good talent developed at Nova Uniao," Dantas' trainer and Nova Uniao leader Andre Pederneiras told Sherdog.com. "I hope he can achieve glory and become the new Bellator champion."
The 24-year-old Dantas sports a 10-2 mark in MMA, and holds wins over former Shooto world champion Shinichi "B.J." Kojima and one of Brazil's top bantamweights, Luiz Alberto "Betao" Nogueira. His last loss came in July 2009 against former Shooto world champion Masakatsu Ueda.
There are no firm plans for Bellator's future fifth season, however, it is likely that Dantas will be used in a bantamweight tournament bracket to determine a challenger for champion Zach Makovsky.
