Bellator MMA Signs Trio of Brazilian Flyweights to Exclusive, Multi-Fight Deals
Bellator
announced Thursday afternoon the signing of three prospects from
Brazil.
With the goal of building its women’s flyweight division, the promotion announced that Bruna Ellen, Bruna Vargas and Kenya Miranda da Silva have all been locked in to exclusive, multi-fight contracts.
The three new signees join the growing flyweight roster consisting
of Ilima-Lei
Macfarlane, Lena
Ovchynnikova, Kerri Taylor-Melendez and Anastasia
Yankova.
Ellen turned pro in 2015 and has won both of her first two fights. The Team Nogueira Campinas fighter competed under the Max Fight umbrella and defeated Elen Torres via unanimous decision before stopping Pamela Mara Assis via first-round technical knockout.
Vargas is also 2-0 and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Rafaela Garcia at OFC “Sobradinho Fight 2”, though that was back in April 2014. Her pro debut came in 2013 with a second-round guillotine submission win over Thaiane Souza at FFC 2. She and Bellator expect the Porto Alegre fighter to be much more active moving forward, according to a release.
Lastly, Miranda is 2-2 as a pro, but she’s coming off a first-round rear-naked choke submission win over Natalia Cristina Miranda Silva at RFC 4 in September. After losing her pro debut in late 2014, the BH Rhinos rep turned it around in 2015, having gone 2-1 with both of her wins coming via stoppage.
There is no exact timetable as to when each of these women will make their Bellator debuts.
