According to Ben Askren, his next fight is booked and will be against Demian Maia on Oct. 26 at UFC Fight Night 162 in Singapore. “Funky” tweeted out the scrap was a done deal.
“Done deal! Oct 26 we will find out who the best MMA grappler on planet earth is,” Askren wrote.
Askren, of course, is coming off of a five-second knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239 that handed him his first professional defeat. Before that, in his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut, he beat Robbie Lawler via first-round submission. “Funky” is the former One Championship and Bellator MMA welterweight king.
Maia, meanwhile, is on a two-fight winning streak. The 41-year-old is 27-9 as a pro and has 13 wins by submission and is a former UFC title challenger.
