Shawn Porter vs. Erick Bone

Round 1

Bone is a last-minute replacement for Roberto Garcia. Let’s see if he bit off more than he can chew. Porter lunges at the body and connects with a straight left to get the action started. The fighters feint in the center of the ring, feeling each other’s distance. Porter does work with a right hand to the head and a left hook to the body. Porter is a little wild early and is having a hard time hitting his target clean. Bone shows good head movement in avoiding his opponent’s blows. Porter cracks Bone with a right hand and the favor is returned with a counter left. Both fighters felt the brunt of the leather.

Round 2

Porter opens up with a three-piece after a slow start to round two. A left from Porter finds a home on the chin of Bone. Porter cracks his foe with a left counter to the body while Bone was against the ropes. Porter connects with a left and Bone’s nose starts to trickle blood. Porter is chasing Bone down, attempting to rough him up on the inside. A crisp left jab scores for Porter. Tight round.

Round 3

Bone connects with a sharp right and the crowd responds. Bone is doing work to Porter’s body early in round three with a vicious right hook. Bone again connects with a right hand, but this one to the jaw. Bone continues to counterpunch effectively off the ropes. Bone smacks Porter with a left hook to the chin. Round three is all Bone.

Round 4

Right hook to the belt line scores for Bone. Porter shows signs of life with a straight left to the body. Porter lands his best shot of the fight thus far with a right hook to the head, but Bone answers in kind with a hard right of his own. This is a nice scrap. Bone backs Porter up to the ropes. Bone is lighting Porter up, but both fighters stand their ground. Porter answers with a right hand. Good round.

Round 5

Porter gets the best of an exchange 40 seconds into the fifth frame. Bone lands two hard right hands. Porter comes in and knocks Bone off balance and to the floor. Bone appears to hurt his ankle in the fall. Bone is hurt. Porter pounces and hurts Bone with a right to the body. Bone stands and Porter turns it on. Porter is pouring on leather, smelling blood. Bone is crushed with a right hands and down he goes. He does not beat the count. This baby is over. Referee Jack Reese counts him out.

Chris Arreola vs. Curtis Harper

Round 1

Harper comes out throwing bombs at the opening bell. Arreola racks his opponent with two hard jabs and a left hook. Harper falls and takes an eight count. Arreola lands a jackhammer of a right hook, but his opponent stands and ties up. Harper connects with a right hand and Arreola answers with a hard right counter. Harper gets sloppy and is bit with a right hand. Harper is flailing around the ring on wobbly legs, getting busted up with leather from both hands. Absolute slugfest, but it’s pretty sloppy.

Round 2

The pace has slowed to a crawl to follow up on the barnburner that was round one. Both big men are winded. Harper blasts Arreola with a right and a left. Again Harper snaps Arreola’s head back with a right hand. Arreola answers with a straight right. Harper connects with a short right hook. Harper loses his mouthpiece and a short respite is given to both fighter while the mouth guard is retrieved. The action is restarted but the stanza ends slow as it started.

Round 3

Arreola picks up his tempo to begin the third period. A clean right-hand lead connects for Harper. Arreola steps up his jab game and connects with two consecutively. A right hand hurts Harper. Harper digs a straight left to the body. Harper knocks Arreola’s socks off with a right hook. He smiles and acknowledges the punch. Both men are fatigued.

Round 4

Harper absolutely rocks Arreola’s snotbox with a wild flurry. Arreola shakes his head as if to shake off the cobwebs. Another right-hand lead scores for Harper, who is showing superior hand speed. Again Harper snaps Arreola’s head back. Harper goes to the body with a right hook. Arreola is pushing Harper against the ropes, but he isn’t connecting. A huge left uppercut lands for Haroer and a right hand. A left scores for Harper. All Harper’s round.

Round 5

We go into the fifth round with Harper up on the virtual scorecards. Again harper lands a right hand clean and flush. A left hook lands high on the forehead of Arreola. Harper is caught with a right hand by the Californian. The fighters clash heads accidently, but it seems that nobody is cut. Just when it seems like Arreola is picking up momentum, Harper connects with a hard right to the body and left hook to the head. Arreola finishes strong and takes the round.

Round 6

Lots of leather being exchanged early in round six. Both fighters have landed through the first 40 seconds of the period. Arreola backs Harper up against the ropes and roughs him up with both hands, but nothing landed too clean. Harper circles out and takes the center of the ring. Harper eats a straight right but he moves with the punch to avoid disaster. The rounds ends a little wild with both fighters landing right hands near the ropes.

Round 7

Arreola takes control of the ring and chases Harper down. Arreola opens up and connects with both hands. It seems the tides have turned in this slugfest. With that said, Arreola is rocked with a right hand. He answers back with a right hook and the action is on. Arreola hurts Harper with a right to the body and he begins to pounce, thinking Harper is finished. He is not, however. What a fight. Arreola lands three consecutive right hooks to the head. He wobbles, but stands in there somehow. Arreola is absolutely teeing off at this point. Harper eats leather from both hands at the bell.

Round 8

It’s the final round, and Harper’s corner tells him he needs a finish to win. It’s Arreola, however, who takes the initiative with a left hook that connects right on the button. Another lands for Arreola. Harper punches back with his back to the ropes and both hands down. One minute remains. Arreola chases Harper to the ropes but it’s Harper that bursts with both arms. Harper appears to be out of gas with 20 seconds left. A left hook lands for Arreola and he attempts to make a statement as time expires.

Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez

Round 1

Both fighters seem tight and rigid through the opening minute. Neither man is willing to open up with offense until the 1:25 mark, when Lopez steps forward with a right hand off a jab. Little action thus far and we’re two minutes in. This truly has been a feel-out round. Lopez connects with digging hooks to the body and a right hook.

Round 2

Berto jabs to begin round two and Lopez returns fire to the body with hooks. Lopez lands a right hook and a left hook on the cup. He is not warned for the infraction. Berto backs Lopez up into the corner and glances a straight right to the chin. Berto is much more aggressive this round. Lopz, not to be outdone, continues his assault to the body with a left and right. Berto's jab is paying dividends early.

Round 3

Berto returns to the jab and Lopez is warned for a rabbit punch. Lopez reaches down and connects with a straight left to the body. Berto moves Lopez to the ropes and hits air with a combo. Lopez now finds his jab rhythm. The fighters wrestle against the ropes and the referee has none of it. Berto cleanly jabs in the center of the ring. Close round.

Round 4

There’s some swelling under the right eye of Lopez to kick off the fourth round. Again the fighters clinch and throw each other; the ref warns both. Digging rights to the body connect for Lopez. Lopez is warned for holding the head and punching simultaneously. Nice body work by Lopez with a combo. Berto jabs back and eats a right hand from Lopez. Lopez is winning the war on the inside with rough play. Berto lands two right hands in the round’s final 10 seconds.

Round 5

Lopez is warned for holding the head and punching simultaneously again. The referee says a point will be the cost if it happens again. Lopez lands an uppercut and a left hook. Berto is the more active fighter but has yet to really land clean in this fight, but you would not know it by looking at the right eye of Lopez. It’s marked up and swelling both above and below the eyeball. Berto jabs and uncorcks a right hand that is easily evaded, a common theme through five rounds.

Round 6

Trainer Virgil Hunter tells Berto in the corner that he needs to break his opponent down; easier said than done. Lopez connects to the body and is rocked by a Berto right hand. Lopez stumbles and is rocked with another right hand. Down he goes. He stands at eight and is floored with again immediately with a right hand. It’s over. Referee Raul Caiz Jr. waves it off without even issuing a count. Lopez protests as well as the crowd, but it’s a wrap.
