According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Brandon Thatch will stand opposite Sabah Homasi at UFC 207, though promotional officials have yet to formally announce the matchup.

UFC 207 will go down in the new T-Mobile Arena on Dec. 30 and the event is expected to be a blockbuster one to close out 2016. The card’s initial prelims will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, followed by the rest of the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1. And per the norm, the meaty main card will be available live on pay-per-view.

After submitting Mike Rhodes at RFA 7, Thatch burst into the UFC with two consecutive knockout wins. But “Rukus” has fallen on hard times, having lost his last three bouts inside the Octagon, all via submission. The Elevation Fight Team fighter’s tenure in the UFC is likely on life support, so a win over Homasi is paramount.

Homasi is coming off a loss to Tim Means at UFC 202 but “The Punisher” had won three straight prior to that second-round TKO loss. Homasi, a veteran of Bellator, Titan FC and Strikeforce, will likely open as a sizable betting favorite and he’ll be dead set on rebounding from his disappointing UFC debut, which he took on short notice.
