Cage Warriors Reschedules June Events, Announces New Card for Manchester in December

Cage Warriors has rescheduled two events originally tabbed for June in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The European promotion announced on Wednesday that a card scheduled for Viola Arena in Cardiff, Wales, on June 13 has been moved to Aug. 8, while the London event originally booked for the Indigo at the O2 on June 20 will now take place on Nov. 27. Both changes are subject to public health guidelines, according to a release.

“We’re constantly monitoring the situation in Europe, and listening to government advice,” Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan said.

“We will continue to adapt our schedule whenever we have to, but our plan is still to return at the first given opportunity with some of the biggest and best cards we can possibly put together.”

In addition to the rescheduled events, Cage Warriors announced a new card set for Manchester, England, in December. The card was not originally part of the promotion’s 2020 itinerary, but “is being planned to keep the promotion’s growing roster active and to meet the demand from fans.” Boylan hinted that the Manchester card could be special if it goes forward as planned.

“Fans and fighters will rightly deserve as much MMA as possible after our time off, which is why we’ve locked a new date in Manchester on the weekend of Dec. 11-12 into our forward calendar. It’s a volatile situation but we might do something unique there to close out 2019: watch this space,” Boylan said.

“I want to thank our business partners in all our venues – AEG, BEC and the Viola Arena – for their flexibility and support. It’s by all working together that we can and will get through this.”
