Carpenter Suffers Concussion, Bout vs. Hardy Scratched from Invicta FC 21
The bout between Brieta
Carpenter and Heather
Hardy, scheduled for this Saturday’s
Invicta FC 21 card, has been scrapped. Promotion officials
announced the news Tuesday evening.
Carpenter suffered a concussion while training and was forced to withdraw from the bout. With the fight less than a week away, Invicta FC officials were unable to locate a suitable replacement for Hardy, a popular unbeaten professional boxer who has captured title belts in two different weight classes. It was supposed to be the Brooklyn native’s MMA debut.
UFC veteran Elizabeth Phillips has agreed to fight Leah Letson on short notice, bringing the Invicta FC 21 event back up to eight total bouts. The card will be headlined by a featherweight showdown between Charmaine Tweet and Megan Anderson, while Pannie Kianzad will square off with Raquel Pa’aluhi in the co-feature.
Invicta FC 21 will take place inside the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
