Cat Zingano vs. Pam Sorenson, Sabah Homasi vs. Maycon Mendonca Set for Bellator 282

A women’s featherweight showdown pitting Cat Zingano against Pam Sorenson that was originally slated for Bellator 276 is now in the works for Bellator 282.

Zingano, who pulled out of the original booking due to injury, first mentioned the matchup during an interview with The Schmo. MMAFighting.com has since reported that both fighters have verbally agreed to the pairing.

Additionally, Sabah Homasi has signed a new contract with the promotion and will square off against Maycon Mendonca at Bellator 282. The California-based organization confirmed the bout following an initial report from Cageside Press.

Bellator 282 takes place on June 24 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and is headlined by a middleweight title clash between Gegard Mousasi and Johnny Eblen. The main card airs on Showtime and will also include a pair of semifinals in the bantamweight grand prix, as Magomed Magomedov meets Enrique Barzola, while Leandro Higo takes on Danny Sabatello.

After exiting the UFC with losses in four of her final five outings, Zingano has kicked off her Bellator tenure with back-to-back triumphs. The Broomfield, Colo., native outpointed Gabrielle Holloway in her debut at Bellator 245 before submitting Olivia Parker in the opening stanza at Bellator 256.

Sorenson, meanwhile, had a two-bout winning streak snapped in her last outing, when the former Invicta FC title holder dropped a unanimous verdict against Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 271. Prior to that, “Bam” defeated Roberta Samad via split decision in her promotional debut at Bellator 264.

Homasi ended a two-bout losing streak in his first appearance of 2022, when he submitted Jaleel Willlis with an arm-triangle choke in the opening round of their Bellator 273 encounter on Jan. 29. Homasi is 5-4 over the course of three separate stints in Bellator, the first of which occurred in 2010.

A former Legacy Fighting Alliance welterweight champion, Mendonca dropped a unanimous decision to Willis in his promotional debut at Bellator 259. That defeat ended a five-bout winning streak for the 31-year-old Brazilian.
