Chad Laprise to Face Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night in Saskatoon on Aug.23

Chad Laprise will lock horns with Francisco Trinaldo when the UFC makes its first trip to Saskatchewan on Aug. 23.

Promotion officials revealed the lightweight pairing on Friday. The UFC Fight Night event takes place at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon and features a featherweight duel pitting Max Holloway against Charles Oliveira.

Laprise, who defeated Olivier Aubin-Mercier to win “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations,” is 3-0 in the Octagon overall. In addition to besting Aubin-Mercier, the 28-year-old Canadian has also garnered victories against Yosdenis Cedeno and Bryan Barberena in the UFC. “The Disciple” owns a 10-0 career professional mark.

Trinaldo enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak. The 36-year-old Brazilian last appeared at UFC Fight Night “Condit vs. Alves,” where he captured a split-decision triumph against Norman Parke. “Massaranduba” is 7-3 in the UFC since making his promotional debut in 2012.
