Chael Sonnen Responds To 'Worst Drug Cheat' Article By Yahoo Sports
Chael Sonnen may have retired from competition last Friday, but the sometimes self-deprecating wit that helped carry him to superstardom is still very much active.
The 42-year old “American Gangster” announced his retirement after
his loss against Lyoto
Machida at Bellator 222, ending a two-decade-plus career that
saw him challenge twice for UFC titles and fight some of the
biggest names in the sport including Jon Jones,
Anderson
Silva and Fedor
Emelianenko. Even more than for his in-cage accomplishments,
Sonnen rose to fame for an over-the-top, professional
wrestling-inspired trash talk game that changed the way fighters
promote themselves. Despite that, many of his fellow fighters still
had a lot of respect for him and offered words of support upon
hearing the news that he was hanging his gloves up for good.
Sonnen was also known for several failed performance-enhancing drug tests throughout his career, and Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports wrote an article that called out Sonnen on these failed tests with the headline “Chael Sonnen, one of the worst drug cheats of his era, retires from MMA.”
Sonnen reached out to Twitter to troll the article in his own inimitable fashion:
Not to be picky Kevster
