Jon Jones, Roger Hollett, Charles Oliveira, Simeon Thoresen and Charlie Brenneman were all suspended indefinitely following UFC 152 on Saturday night.
A heavy favorite heading into his fourth light heavyweight title defense, Jones unexpectedly found himself caught in a tight armbar after taking challenger Vitor Belfort to the mat in round one. Though “The Phenom” was unable to elicit a tap from the champion, Jones confirmed in his post-fight interviews that the maneuver did damage his right appendage. Nevertheless, Jones managed to escape the hold and went on to submit Belfort with a fourth-round keylock to retain his title.
Additionally, Demetrious Johnson walked away from the UFC 152 co-main event as the promotion’s inaugural flyweight titlist, outpointing Joseph Benavidez in a split decision to earn the crown. The evening’s main draw aired live on pay-per-view and also saw Michael Bisping, Matt Hamill and Cub Swanson earn victories, besting Brian Stann, Roger Hollett and Charles Oliveira, respectively.
