Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki is going back to the champion-versus-champion well.
The preeminent Polish MMA outfit announced on Monday that KSW 42 will be headlined by a showdown between the promotion’s middleweight champion and central star Mamed Khalidov and 205-pound titlist Tomasz Narkun. The bout will be contested at a catchweight of 90 kilograms, or approximately 198 pounds.
KSW 42 is scheduled for March 3 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.
The 37-year-old Khalidov is riding a 15-fight unbeaten streak dating back to his loss to Jorge Santiago at Sengoku Raiden Championship in March 2010, nearly eight years ago. At KSW 39 “Colosseum” this past May, Khalidov headlined in front of nearly 58,000 fans in Warsaw, taking a narrow and hotly-contested unanimous decision over KSW’s welterweight champion Borys Mankowski in a bout contested at 181 pounds.
Narkun, 28, earned the KSW 205-pound mantle in October 2015, knocking out Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Goran Relic. He has since made three successful title defenses, stopping Cassio Barbosa de Oliveira, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and most recently, Marcin Wojcik via first-round submission at “Colosseum” in May.
KSW 42 is also expected to feature undefeated promotional lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot, women’s flyweight champ Ariane Lipski, former heavyweight champ Karol Bedorf Michal Materla and Lukasz Jurkowski in action.
