Some were expecting the featured bout on DAZN’s boxing outlet on Saturday to be an entertaining, if not competitive one. But inside Copper Box Arena in London, England, Charlie Edwards made sure neither came true.
If Edwards (15-1, 6 KOs) was a Major League pitcher, he tossed a complete game no-hitter. The Surrey native did anything he wanted inside the ring against challenger Angel Moreno and never came close to losing a round. Edwards moved beautifully, threw plenty of flush leads, countered when he needed to and won virtually every minute of every round.
Moreno (19-3-2, 6 KOs) never came close to finding any sort of rhythm and was disallowed the chance get his punches off. Edwards dropped “Golden Boy” with a short hook inside in the eighth and coasted down the stretch to win a landslide unanimous decision. All three ringside judges favored Edwards 120-107, who retained his WBC flyweight title on his second defense.
