Chris Dempsey Moves to 205 Pounds, Faces Jonathan Wilson at UFC Fight Night Nashville

Chris Dempsey will return to the light heavyweight division to face Jonathan Wilson on short notice at UFC Fight Night "St. Preux vs. Teixeira" in Nashville on Aug. 8.

Promotion officials recently announced the new matchup after Jared Cannonier was forced to withdraw from the contest due to an undisclosed injury. UFC Fight Night takes place at the Bridgestone Arena and is headlined by a light heavyweight duel between Ovince St. Preux and Glover Teixeira.

After suffering a first-round knockout loss to Ilir Latifi in his light heavyweight Octagon debut, Dempsey moved to 185 pounds and scored a split decision victory over Eddie Gordon in his most recent outing at UFC on Fox 15. The 27-year-old has won nine of his last 10 bouts and is 11-2 as a professional overall.

A veteran of the Gladiator Challenge circuit, Wilson enters his promotional debut with a 6-0 mark. Four of the Milennia MMA product’s wins have ended inside of a round, including a 50-second KO of Daniel Ynojos in his most recent appearance last August.
