The highly-anticipated “BMF” title fight last Saturday night at UFC 244 between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz ended prematurely due to a doctor’s stoppage at the end of the third round. Masvidal’s head coach at American Top Team Mike Thomas Brown doesn’t believe much would change if they were to meet again.

Each of the three-rounds in the main-event were largely dominated by Masvidal, who overpowered Diaz and landed some heavy shots, repeatedly targeting the cut above Diaz’s eye before the cage side doctor deemed it too significant for him to continue at the end of the third round.

Masvidal’s ATT head coach understands why people would like the rematch, given the controversial stoppage, but told MMAFighting.com that his fighter would dominate Diaz once again if a potential rematch went ahead.

“I think we’d see the same thing,” Brown said about a potential Masvidal vs. Diaz 2. “That was pretty damn one-sided. He won all three rounds, all three were pretty one-sided. I think that’s how it’s always going to be.

“I mean on a good day Jorge gets him out of there, and on a bad day, maybe the rounds are a little closer but [Jorge] still wins them. That’s what I see.”
