Unbeaten Quebec native Jonathan Meunier will replace Alex Garcia and face Colby Covington in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night in Ottawa on June 18.
MMAFighting.com was the first to report the new matchup. UFC Fight Night takes place at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and is headlined by a pivotal welterweight showdown between Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson.
Anchored at Tristar Quebec, the 28-year-old Meunier brings a 7-0 record into his Octagon debut. He last fought on May 21, tapping out Francis Charbonneau in the opening round at a regional event in Quebec. All of his triumphs have come inside the distance.
Covington, meanwhile, began his promotional tenure with three straight triumphs before suffering a first-round submission loss to Warlley Alves at UFC 194 this past December. The American Top Team product is 8-1 as a pro overall, with five of his wins via submission and three by decision.
