Combate Americas Debuts in South America with Event in Peru on May 31
Combate Americas will head to South American for the first time
with a card in Lima, Peru, on May 31.
“Combate Peru” will take place at Coliseo Manuel Bonilla and is headlined by a lightweight clash between Lima native Rolando Bedoya and Mexico City’s Daniel Zellhuber. The card will air in English on DAZN at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
Two other main card bouts were revealed on Monday, as Marlon
Gonzales will meet Pablo
Villaseca in the featherweight co-headliner, while Alitzel
Mariscal will face Maria Paola Buzaglo in a featured
strawweight contest.
Four preliminary bouts were also announced, all of which feature fighters from Peru: Andres Ayala vs. Renzo Mendez at bantamweight; Eduardo Torres vs. Rodrigo Vera at bantamweight; Dana Zighelboim Grau vs. Jennifer Gonzalez at a 120-pound catchweight; and Kevin Moreyra vs. David Martinez.
“Since establishing the Combate Americas live television event series as a force in both the U.S. and Mexico, we have had our eyes on Peru, a proven hotbed for avid fight fans and fight talent, and are looking forward to bringing to Lima the biggest MMA show the country has ever seen,” Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren said in a release.
