Hispanic-based mixed martial arts promotion Combate Americas, in collaboration with TS-1 Promotions, will bring three Mexico vs. U.S. pairings to Odessa, Texas, on July 12 at the Ector County Coliseum, Sherdog has learned. The card’s remaining five bouts will showcase local Lone Star State talent.

Headlining the Odessa main event will be Oscar Cota and Bubba McDaniel. Cota versus McDaniel will stand as the first heavyweight main event in the promotion’s history.

Cota, who hails from Mexicali, Mexico, had won six in a row until a loss in November 2018 halted his streak. The 10-2 big man is looking to put his record back on track with a victory over McDaniel, a Texan with 40 professional fights to his name.

Sliding into the co-main event slot will be a lightweight bout between Tijuana, Mexico’s, Jose Luis Verdugo (9-8) and Texas native Anselmo Luis Luna Jr. (16-7). In the featured match, flyweight Karen Cedilla will face off against another Texas resident, Felisha Magallan. Cedilla puts her 2-1 record on the line against Magallan (1-0), who hopes to earn her second professional MMA triumph.

Combate Americas’ Odessa, Texas, event will stream live in English on Dazn at 9 p.m. ET.
