Conor McGregor Reacts to Donald Cerrone Victory: ‘For a Fight Like That, I’ll Fight You’
It’s no secret that Donald Cerrone has been seeking a showdown with Conor McGregor, and now he seems to have the Irish star’s attention.
In his first lightweight bout since December 2015, “Cowboy” shook
off a slow start to defeat prospect Alexander
Hernandez by technical knockout 3:43 into the second round of
their featured preliminary bout at UFC Fight Night 143. With the
ESPN network as his platform, Cerrone once again called out “The
Notorious” one.
“I want top five now. I’ll take Conor if he agrees to it,” Cerrone said. “I’m coming for the belt. I’m on a roll. Here I come.”
Not long after Cerrone submitted Mike Perry in an emotional victory at UFC Fight Night Denver in November, he hinted that he was simply "waiting" on McGregor for a fight at 155 pounds. However, UFC President Dana White quickly squashed that notion.
However, on Saturday night, McGregor was apparently watching Cerrone’s performance in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Saturday night. While how much weight the response carries remains to be seen, the former two-division champ agreed to face the fan favorite in a post on social media.
“For a fight like that Donald, I’ll fight you,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Congratulations.”
