Cristiane Justino joins the list of fighters who believe the latest war-of-words between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor has crossed the line. “Cyborg” is calling for both fighters to be sanctioned for their involvement.

Both fighters have exchanged some extremely personal jabs on Twitter. McGregor started it by posting a photo from Nurmagomedov’s wedding, where he referred to his veiled wife as a “towel” in a tweet that was deleted shortly afterward.

This was met by “The Eagle” posting a tweet featuring a picture of McGregor standing in a provocative pose alongside a woman and calling him a “rapist,” likely in reference to McGregor’s alleged sexual assault investigation in Ireland.

“Cyborg” decided to post her feelings on the exchange to her Twitter account. She hopes that in the future the Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold their fighters to the same standards as other major sports organizations like the NFL and NBA.

“Sometimes I wish athletes in the UFC were held to a code of conduct similar to athletes in the NFL, NBA [and] MLB for the things they say online. Now that the sport is on ESPN, we are in the homes of more kids! We need to unite not divide … this is what sports are for!”

Justino’s future in the UFC is currently unclear after she suffered a knockout loss against Amanda Nunes. She was the dominant UFC Women’s featherweight champion until the defeat occurred at UFC 232. Advertisement
