Cris ‘Cyborg’ Posts Video of Backstage Conversation with Dana White Following UFC 240

After a dominant decision victory over Felicia Spencer at UFC 240, Cristiane Justino explained why a rematch with two-division champion Amanda Nunes was far from foregone conclusion.

Most of the issues for “Cyborg” center around a contentious relationship with UFC president Dana White. She still resents White for mocking her before she joined the Las Vegas-based promotion, and more recently, she claims the UFC boss is lying about her unwillingness to accept a fight with Nunes. “Everybody knows I don’t have the best and greatest relationship with UFC, I don’t have the best relationship with Dana White,” Justino said at Saturday’s post-fight press conference. “He’s bullied me around, bullied me on the Internet and I’m suffering bullying everywhere because of this. I have a daughter, I have a father and I don’t think it’s nice and he’s never, ever said, ‘I’m sorry’ or told me anything about this. It’s going to continue, it’s not finished.

“Like to say I’m scared of Amanda Nunes, to say I don’t want to fight her, this is a liar,” she added. “I text him after the fight saying I want the rematch. This don’t help grow my brand. It damages my brand and if I’m going to work for a promotion, I don’t want someone to damage by brand. I want to work together and we’re going to have to take a little time and see.”

“Cyborg” completed her latest UFC contract on Saturday in Edmonton. The former featherweight queen on Wednesday posted a video of her backstage conversation with White, where she accused him of lying about her willingness to accept a rematch against Nunes.

“You know I text you for the rematch. You know this. Stop lying about it,” Cyborg said in the video (The confrontation begins at about the 12:38 mark). “What you are saying that I don’t want to fight. You know that I want to fight and I’m not scared.”

In response, White denies lying and points to negotiations with the fighter’s management as a possible reason for the misunderstanding.

“I’m not lying about it,” White said. “I don’t know if you know how it played out with management and whatever but we want to do that fight. I want to do that fight right now. We’ll get it done.”

Justino stated that she wants to let the three-month negotiating window with the UFC pass so she can test the market as a free agent. If she does play the waiting game, it could be some time before there is any progress made for a return date between “Cyborg” and Nunes.
