Daley Misses Weight at Shark Fights

AMARILLO, Texas -- Four veterans all in the hunt for good showings
hit the scales Friday in anticipation of Saturday’s Shark Fights 13
at the Amarillo Civic Center Coliseum.
In the main event, promotional champion Trevor Prangley faces former UFC staple Keith Jardine in a three-round, non-title affair.
The 37-year-old Prangley, who suffered a first-round submission
defeat to recent title challenger Tim Kennedy
at Strikeforce “Los Angeles” in June, weighed in at 202.75
pounds.
Jardine is also on the mend following four straight defeats in the UFC, including a majority decision loss to Matt Hamill at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale in June. The 34-year-old Greg Jackson-trained fighter, who’s suffered knockouts in two of his last three bouts, came in at 204.5 pounds.
After losing his footing in the UFC with four straight losses, the 38-year-old Alexander (202.25) earned a unanimous decision win against David Griffin at an Ultimate Fighting Alliance event in Charleston, S.C.
Team Quest’s Sokoudjou, fresh off a first-round TKO over Joaquim Ferreira at Impact Fighting Championship in July, came in at 204.5 pounds.
Despite stripping down, British striker and former UFC contender Paul Daley weighed in at 172 pounds on his first attempt, and registered a weight of 171.75 on try two. American Top Team opponent Jorge Masvidal was 168.75 pounds for their featured welterweight bout, and will take 10 percent of Daley's "show purse" for being overweight. Additionally, if "Fight of the Night" honors are awarded to the pair's bout, Masvidal will claim the entire $5,000 prize.
Strikeforce upstart Tarec Saffiedine faces UFC and WEC vet Brock Larson in a welterweight bout that kicks off the main card. The Belgium-born sharpshooter tipped the scales at 169.75 pounds; Larson was 170.75 pounds.
In another main card bout, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Danillo Villefort steps in as a one-week replacement to face EliteXC and Strikeforce middleweight Joey Villasenor. Villefort was on weight at 184.5 pounds; Villasenor was 185.5 pounds.
A featherweight title bout between champion Douglas Evans (144.25) and U.K. prospect Ronnie Mann (144.75) anchors the undercard.
Shark Fights 13 will be available on pay-per-view, while the five-fight undercard will air live and free on Sherdog.com starting at 8:00 p.m. EST.
