Dana White’s Contender Series Weigh-In Results: Leon Shahbazyan vs. Brok Weaver Scrapped

Dana White’s Contenders Series will kick off its third season with a shorter-than-usual card after one bout was scratched during weigh-ins.

Leon Shahbazyan was deemed medically unfit to continue his weight cut, and as a result, his proposed welterweight clash with Brok Weaver was canceled. It’s the first time since the Contender Series’ inception that a matchup has been scrapped. The card will move forward with four fights.

All of the eight other scheduled competitors made weight without issue, including Punahele Soriano (186 pounds) and Jamie Pickett (186), who will square off in the featured contest of the evening at middleweight. Soriano is unbeaten in five professional appearances, with all of his victories coming by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission. Pickett’s lone loss in his last eight appearances came to Charles Byrd on the inaugural Contender Series episode in July 2017.

Dana White’s Contender Series will take place at the UFC Apex venue in Las Vegas on Tuesday and streams on ESPN+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Competitors on the Contender Series will have a chance to earn a UFC contract based on their performance.

Dana White’s Contender Series Weigh-in Results:

Punahele Soriano (186) vs. Jamie Pickett (186)
Hannah Goldy (116) vs. Kali Robbins (116)
Bill Algeo (146) vs. Brendan Loughnane (146)

Note: Leon Shahbazyan vs. Brok Weaver was canceled after Shahbazyan was ruled medically unfit to continue his weight cut.
