Dana White’s Contender Series Weigh-in Results: Kevin Syler Comes in 6.5 Pounds Heavy

By Tristen Critchfield Jul 15, 2019
Kevin Syler checked in 6.5 pounds overweight for his scheduled featherweight clash against Lance Lawrence at Dana White’s Contender Series, but the bout will nonetheless move forward as planned.

Syler tipped the scales at 152.5 pounds on Monday and as a result has been fined 30 percent of his purse. Lawrence, meanwhile, checked in at 145 pounds for the bout.

Everyone else scheduled for the fourth week of the 2019 season made weight without issue, including Stephen Regman (184.5) and Antonio Arroyo (185.5), who will square off in Tuesday’s featured bout at middleweight.

Regman enters the matchup on a four-fight winning streak and is coming off a first-round knockout of Will Santiago Jr. in his most recent outing at Legacy Fighting Alliance 49 this past September. Arroyo, meanwhile, earned a unanimous verdict over Diego Henrique da Silva on the Brazilian version of the Contender Series last summer but did not receive a UFC contract for his efforts.

Dana White’s Night Contender Series takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
