Daniel Cormier Dismisses Immediate Rematch with Miocic: 'I Don’t Owe Anyone S--t'

Stipe Miocic hasn’t fought since losing the heavyweight crown to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226, but he remains dead set on getting a rematch with “DC” in his next Octagon appearance.

While Cormier’s next move remains uncertain, it doesn’t appear that he will be giving Miocic an immediate rematch. The American Kickboxing Academy stalwart laid out his reasoning on Twitter, beginning with a resounding: “I don’t owe anyone s—t.’

After knocking out Miocic in the opening stanza at UFC 226, Cormier returned to action at UFC 230, earning a second-round submission victory against Derrick Lewis. He had targeted his March 20 — his 40th birthday — as he retirement date, but it appears he will have to fight beyond that. Cormier still could be awaiting a showdown with Brock Lesnar, who entered the Octagon to confront the new champion following his victory at UFC 226.
