Do you guys wanna know why I’m not fighting @stipemiocic again?
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) February 5, 2019
Reason 1: he’s being entitled, why have I fought since and he hasn’t. He lost the fight is he still the champ? Reason 2: I’m hurt Reason3: how do I do it better? I beat him in a round last time ? https://t.co/sQF4Wu5q6P

After knocking out Miocic in the opening stanza at UFC 226, Cormier returned to action at UFC 230, earning a second-round submission victory against Derrick Lewis. He had targeted his March 20 — his 40th birthday — as he retirement date, but it appears he will have to fight beyond that. Cormier still could be awaiting a showdown with Brock Lesnar, who entered the Octagon to confront the new champion following his victory at UFC 226.
