Davi Ramos Takes On Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Portland

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is building up a serious card for its third trip to Portland, Oregon, in April.

On Wednesday, ESPN reported that Davi Ramos (10-3) would be facing Arman Tsarukyan (14-2) at UFC Fight Night 172 on April 11. The two will meet in the lightweight division, and it is unclear if they will appear on the preliminary or main card portion of the event.

Ramos last competed in September, dropping a clear-cut unanimous verdict to Islam Makhachev at UFC 242. The defeat snapped a four-fight win streak that saw “The Tasmanian Devil” submit Chris Gruetzemacher, Nick Hein and John Gunther along the way. In victory, Ramos has submitted seven of his ten opponents, while he has never been finished in a loss.

Like Ramos, Tsarukyan's last defeat came against Makhachev. The Russian made his promotional debut in April 2019 when he squared off against his opponent from Dagestan, and he lost a spirited decision that likely saw his stock grow in defeat. Since then, Tsarukyan rebounded by taking a victory on the scorecards against Olivier Aubin-Mercier at UFC 240 in July 2019. This layoff lasting over eight months is among the longest in his career that spans less than five years.

UFC Portland will go down at the Moda Center on April 11 in Portland, Oregon. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight scrap between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris, while the co-main event sees Edmen Shahbazyan collide with Derek Brunson at middleweight.
