Derrick Lewis hasn’t exactly seen eye-to-eye with Ultimate Fighting Championship newcomer Greg Hardy since the former pro footballer’s debut earlier this year and wants to “get his ass” out of the promotion as quick as possible.

Lewis has said in the past that he wants to fight Hardy as a result of Hardy’s well-documented history of alleged domestic violence involving a former girlfriend.

The “Prince of War” has a date with someone Lewis has previously beaten in Alexander Volkov, who he takes on at UFC Moscow on Nov. 9. Hardy has taken the fight on short-notice after Volkov’s previous opponent in former champ Junior dos Santos was forced off the card due to a bacterial infection in his leg.

Lewis is coming off a tough, three-round war against Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 244 and during his post-fight scrum said he wants Hardy out of the promotion as quick as possible (via Bloody Elbow).

“I want Greg Hardy to get his ass out of the UFC,” Lewis told reporters. “He’s making everyone else look bad. So, we don’t need him to win no more fights.”

Lewis said he doesn’t think Hardy will beat Volkov and made fun of Hardy’s recent indiscretion inside the Octagon when he took a puff of his inhaler in between rounds against Aussie Ben Sosoli last month, which resulted in the bout being changed from a win to Hardy to a no-contest.

“They got on to him now, so I don’t think his ass can bring an inhaler to the cage to help him this time,” Lewis said of Hardy. “So I don’t think he’ll win.” Advertisement
