The UFC announced Friday that Sanchez (28-11) will be facing on Gall (5-1) in a welterweight tilt at UFC 235. The event will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 2. On his Instagram page in September, Gall called out Sanchez, claiming he was “The Nightmare’s Nightmare” and asking UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby to set up the fight.
The original “Ultimate Fighter” winner, Sanchez has made a career out of exciting bouts, earning seven “Fight of the Night” bonuses throughout his career -- good for the second-most all time tied with Joe Lauzon and Frankie Edgar, and trailing Nate Diaz with 8. Making his UFC debut at middleweight, Sanchez is one of the rare fighters to compete across four different weight classes throughout his career. Sanchez won his last bout against Craig White this past September, breaking a two-fight skid of two first round knockout losses.
Facing Sanchez will be the far less experienced Gall, who in six career bouts has recorded all five of his wins by rear-naked choke within two rounds. Most recently, Gall submitted George Sullivan in August in 69 seconds, rebounding from a decision loss he suffered to Randy Brown in November 2017.
No headliner has yet been announced, but the promotion recently rescheduled the welterweight matchup between Robbie Lawler and Ben Askren to this event.
