Dillon Danis Takes on Kegan Gennrich in 175-Pound Catchweight at Bellator 238

The Dillon Danis show will have a third act in 2020 with Bellator MMA.

On Friday, the promotion announced that Danis (2-0) will be facing Kegan Gennrich (2-1) in a 175-pound catchweight affair at Bellator 238. The event will go down on Jan. 25 at The Forum in Inglewood, California, and it will be headlined by a featherweight war between divisional queen Julia Budd and Bellator newcomer Cristiane Justino.

Danis has won both of his Bellator outings by first-round submission, most recently submitting Max Humphrey with an armbar in the opening frame at Bellator 222 in June. In his MMA debut, which also happened to be his promotional debut as well, Danis tapped Kyle Walker with a toe hold in 98 seconds. In doing so, "El Jefe" earned the fifth submission of its kind in organizational history, and the first for any fighter above the lightweight division. Both of his previous bouts have taken place at a 175-pound catchweight.

Gennrich bounced back from dropping his first foray in the sport after Joe Valadez forced him to tap to an armbar in the first round in 2015. Since that loss, Gennrich has finished Kendrick Terry with punches in Round 2, and took over four years away from the sport. His return to MMA came in September, when he pulled off an armbar on Devondrick Bankston just 83 seconds into the fight.
