For a second time, Eric Spicely has been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The middleweight confirmed the news via social media on Monday. It is the second time Spicely has been released from the UFC.

“Alright UFC, this is goodbye again for now,” Spicely wrote. “Let’s see if we can do a [three-peat]. Sorry to all my fans.”

Spicely’s exit from the Las Vegas-based promotion comes on the heels of a bad weight cut ahead of a proposed UFC Fight Night 173 clash against Markus Perez. The Syndicate MMA representative attributed his issues to new antidepressants he began taking after his loss to Deron Winn at UFC Fight Night 154.

Spicely hasn’t competed since his loss to Winn in June 2019. He went 2-4 during a previous stint, posting a notable win over future light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos. “Zebrinha” said that he’d be willing to compete at middleweight or light heavyweight for another promotion going forward.
