Eryk Anders Believes He Could Have Performed Better in UFC Tampa Victory

Eryk Anders is now on a two-fight winning streak after beating Gerald Meerschaert by split decision at UFC Fight Night 161 in Tampa, Florida on Oct. 12.

It was a very close fight, but Anders felt he had done enough to win the scrap and after watching it again, it only cemented his thoughts.

“Man, you never know with the judges. I knew the fight was close, I thought I done enough. It is hard to judge the fight for me when I just fought,” Anders said to Sherdog. “But, after watching it, I knew I won the first and third round. It was a fair decision.”

Although he got the win, Anders knows he can do much better in his fights. He had some moments in there, but isn’t happy with his entire performance.

“I would say I can do better. I'm my hardest critic and toughest judge,” he explained. "I was trying some new things, threw some kicks. There is stuff that I could have done better, but there are things I did well.”

Anders doesn’t necessarily have a preference regarding what’s next, and he isn’t ruling out another fight at light heavyweight if that is what the UFC offers.

“Every fight is important regardless of weight class. I’m happy to get the win but the next one is just as important. But, for what is next, whatever comes across the table,” Anders said. “Middleweight, light heavyweight, ranked, unranked, whatever the UFC wants for me.”
