Horiguchi went unbeaten in five Rizin appearances last year, including four victories which saw him conquer the organization’s 2017 bantamweight grand prix. The 27-year-old American Top Team fighter has not lost since his unsuccessful April 2015 bid for Demetrious Johnson’s UFC belt, departing the company in 2016 on a three-bout winning streak. McCall, 33, will go in search of his first win since July 2014; “Uncle Creepy” lasted less than two minutes in his Rizin debut, losing via doctor stoppage to Manel Kape on Dec. 29.
Rizin 10’s co-main event is a 128-pound kickboxing contest between JMMA vet Yusaku Nakamura and 19-year-old wunderkind Tenshin Nasukawa.
Former Invicta FC atomweight champ Ayaka Hamasaki will take on California’s Alyssa Garcia in a 108-pound bout, while Brazilian “Gun” Diego Nunes will try to halt the five-fight winning streak of Krazy Bee lightweight Yusuke Yachi.
In other MMA action, reigning Shooto lightweight world champion Koshi Matsumoto meets UFC vet and Rizin commentator Daron Cruickshank, wrestler Kanako Murata faces streaking Chinese fighter Weili Zhang at 117 pounds, and “Bigi Boy” Jairzinho Rozenstruik takes on Ukraine’s Andrey Kovalev in a clash of unbeaten heavyweights.
