Featherweights Chad Mendes, Hacran Dias Collide Down Under at December’s UFC on FX 6

A featherweight showdown between Chad Mendes and Hacran Dias has been added to UFC on FX 6, promotion officials recently announced.

Five fights are now official for the event, which takes place at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Gold Coast, Australia. The evening’s main card will air live on FX on Dec. 14 in the United States, and Fuel TV will handle the preliminary proceedings immediately prior to the main draw broadcast. “Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K.” coaches George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson will top the bill, which also features a middleweight meeting between Rousimar Palhares and Hector Lombard.

Mendes, 27, challenged Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title unsuccessfully on Jan. 14, falling by knockout to “Scarface” with just one second remaining in the first round of their UFC 142 clash. “Money” rebounded from the defeat, however, earning a 31-second knockout over “TUF 12” vet Cody McKenzie courtesy of a crippling body shot at UFC 148.

Like his upcoming foe, Dias, 28, has tasted defeat just once as a professional. The Nova Uniao representative rides a nine-fight winning streak heading into his collision with Mendes, most recently outpointing former Jungle Fight champion Iuri Alcantara in his June 23 Octagon debut at UFC 147.
