A featherweight contest between Nam Phan and Jim Hettes has been added to the UFC 141 fight bill, promotion officials announced Wednesday.
Phan (Pictured), 28, recently snapped a two-fight losing skid by avenging his controversial loss to Leonard Garcia. After falling by unanimous decision to former WEC champion Mike Thomas Brown, Phan outpointed Garcia at UFC 136 on Oct. 8 in another exciting standup affair. A 10-year veteran of the sport, Phan has finished 12 of his 17 career victims by either knockout or submission.
Known for his ground skills, Hettes has submitted all nine of his opponents in his two years as a pro. “The Kid” made his UFC debut on Aug. 14, finishing Alex Caceres with a rear-naked choke at UFC Live 5. Only 24 years old, the Pennsylvanian has never seen a third round and has six first-round submissions to his credit.
