Felicia Spencer Believes She Is More Well-Rounded Than Megan Anderson
Felicia
Spencer makes her
Ultimate Fighting Championship debut in Rochester, New York,
this weekend when she faces Megan
Anderson. Both featherweights are former
Invicta Fighting Championships titleholders who got the call to
fight for the UFC shortly after winning their titles. Given that
neither of them lost their titles, fans of the promotion should be
looking forward to this matchup.
At least that is what Spencer (6-0) believes according to MMA Junkie when she spoke about facing someone that once held the same title she did. Not only did she think the fight made sense for her debut, but she knows "a lot of people who follow Invicta are excited for this [as] it is one that's definitely been brewing for a while."
Anderson (9-3) has a height and reach advantage over the "FeeNom"
but that is not something the undefeated fighter seems worried
about. She believes she is more well-rounded and that is what she
hopes to display on Saturday night. "I can keep it standing, I can
take it to the ground. I've won a lot on the ground," said Spencer
of her ability. She feels she is "more dynamic in that way," but is
well aware that Anderson did not hold Invicta gold for nothing.
This match between the two at featherweight has Spencer thinking the fight could be for who would be next in line to face current featherweight champ, Amanda Nunes but that may be looking too far ahead. Anderson is 1-1 in the UFC with a decision loss to Holly Holm and a win over Cat Zingano that was due to an eye injury. This fight between her and Anderson should show what they both bring to the cage.
"There's nothing to sleep on with her ability and what we haven't seen yet," said Spencer about her opponent. "Because we haven't seen a whole lot."
