Flyweight, Strawweight Title Bouts Top Invicta FC 38 Lineup on Nov. 1

The flyweight and strawweight titles will be on the line at Invicta FC 38 on Nov. 1.

In the evening’s main event, reigning 125-pound queen Vanessa Porto will defend her belt against contender tournament winner Karina Rodriguez, while Kanako Murata will square off against Emily Ducote for the vacant strawweight crown in the co-headliner. The all-female promotion announced the championship contests on Wednesday.

Invicta FC 38 takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., and streams in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Five other bouts were announced for the event: Mallory Martin vs. Cynthia Arceo at strawweight; Shanna Young vs. Maiju Suotama at flyweight; Lisa Verzosa vs. Kerri Kenneson at bantamweight; Shaianna Rincon vs. TBA at bantamweight and Serena de Jesus vs. Taneisha Tennant at bantamweight.

Porto claimed the flyweight belt with a technical decision victory over Pearl Gonzalez at Invicta FC 34 on Feb. 15; it was her third consecutive victory within the promotion. Rodriguez earned her title shot with a decision triumph over DeAnna Bennett at Invicta FC 35 and has won five of her last six bouts overall.

Murata has lost just once in 11 pro outings and is coming off a first-round submission of Liana Ferreira Pirosin in her promotional debut at Invicta FC 35. An eight-time Bellator MMA veteran, Ducote enters the matchup on a two-fight winning streak, which includes a first-round stoppage of Janaisa Morandin at Invicta FC 36.
