A flyweight showdown between Tyson Nam and Ryan Benoit is in the works for UFC Fight Night 172 on June 13.

MMAjunkie.com was first to report the booking. UFC Fight Night 172 does not yet have an official venue, but it is likely headed for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas pending approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The card is expected to be headlined by a women’s 125-pound tilt between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo.

Nam, who first rose to prominence on the strength of a knockout of then Bellator bantamweight champ Eduardo Dantas under the Shooto Brazil banner in 2012, is 0-2 in the UFC after dropping decisions to Sergio Pettis and Kai Kara-France in his first two appearances. The 36-year-old Sports Lab product is 18-11-1 over the course of a pro career that began in 2006.

Benoit has alternated losses and wins since his UFC debut in 2013. The 30-year-old Dallas native is coming off a split-decision setback to Heili Alateng at UFC Fight Night 165 on Dec. 21. Benoit’s most notable triumph came against Sergio Pettis at UFC 185.
