Former 170-Pound Title Challenger Darren Till Teases Move to Middleweight

A potential move to middleweight for Darren Till has been a topic of speculation for some time, and now it appears that the Liverpool native is close to making the leap.

Till recently posted a photo on Instagram from a training session in Brazil with the caption “Come den motherf—-ing middleweights.” Prior to that, “The Gorilla” hadn’t made a clear commitment to remaining at welterweight or moving up a division, and it’s important to note that nothing is currently official regarding his next UFC appearance. Till has twice missed weight while competing at 170 pounds, most notably for a headlining bout against Stephen Thompson in May 2018.

Till began his professional tenure with a 17-0-1 record, a run that included five triumphs in the UFC. However, he was submitted in the second round by Tyron Woodley in a title fight at UFC 228 and then returned to suffer a knockout loss at the hands of Jorge Masvidal at UFC London on March 16.

Till recently said that he “1 million percent” expects to return to the Octagon by the end of 2019.
