Will Brooks will attempt to become the latest mixed martial artist to transition from the cage to the realm of sports entertainment.
World Wrestling Entertainment recently announced that Brooks will participate in a tryout this week at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. Other notables taking part include a former Olympian, a retired Green Beret, identical twin brothers and multiple bodybuilders, football players and independent wrestlers.
Brooks last competed at Battlefield Fighting Championship 2, where he was submitted in the opening round by Gleison Tibau on July 27. Brooks went 2-0-1 during the Professional Fighters League 2018 regular season, advancing to the organization’s quarterfinals.
Overall, Brooks owns a 20-5-1 professional mark that includes stints with the UFC and Bellator. Brooks, a former Bellator lightweight champion, has earned notable victories against the likes of Michael Chandler (twice), Ross Pearson, Marcin Held and Drew Dober.
