Former President Donald J. Trump to do Commentary for Vitor Belfort, Evander Holyfield Match

Fight fans will hear from the former President of the United States this weekend.

The upcoming boxing Triller card that features the clash between former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder Vitor Belfort and former cruiserweight and undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield will have a special guest as commentator. On Wednesday morning, Fite confirmed that the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, would do live commentary on the much-anticipated boxing debut of “The Phenom.”

“I love great fighters and great fights. I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won't want to miss this special event,” said Trump in a press release.

Trump has always been vocal about his support for combat sports, mixed martial arts in particular. His friendship with UFC President Dana White is well-known and dates back to 2001 when Trump allowed the Nevada-based promotion to host events at the Trump Taj Mahal and other Trump venues while other arenas rejected them. He also attempted to launch his own MMA promotion back in 2007 when was part of the Affliction promotion. While the project never took off as a legit competitor to the UFC, Trump did sign some of the most important names at the time, including former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski.

Belfort (26-14 1NC MMA) is looking for a new challenge in his decennial combat-sport career. The Brazilian was supposed to make his debut in One Championship before agreeing with the Singapore-based promotion to be set free from the deal. Now, “The Phenom” is looking for his first victory in boxing. Belfort was supposed to face Oscar De La Hoya before the former boxing titleholder pulled out after testing positive for COVID-19.

The upcoming Triller event will go down at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, starting 6:00 p.m. ET on Sept. 11. Fans can order it on Fite at $49.99 in North America and £13.99 in the UK. The card will also see a boxing clash between former UFC kingpins Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz. Also, David Haye takes on Joe Fournier and Andy Vences clashes with Jono Carroll.
