Tyron Woodley wants to stay as active as he possibly can for the remainder of 2020.

The former welterweight champion is coming off a lopsided five-round decision loss to Gilbert Burns in the UFC on ESPN 9 main event on May 30. Prior to that, “The Chosen One” relinquished his welterweight crown to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March 2019.

“I want to fight two more times this year,” Woodley said Monday on Instagram Live (transcription via MMAjunkie.com). “So we are right now in June. I fee like if I can get one on the books sometime in the near future then it still leaves me with November or December to fight again. I want to fight two more times this year. I want to just really knock out some fights. I’m excited about it. I’m ready to get back in there and get after it.”

Woodley hasn’t fought twice in a year since 2017 and the last time he made three Octagon appearances was 2014, when he earned TKO wins over Carlos Condit and Dong Hyun Kim while dropping a decision to Rory MacDonald.

Coming off the first two-bout skid of his professional career, Woodley knows he isn’t in a position to pick and choose opponents.

“I can’t think of anybody off the top of my head like, ‘Oh, let me fight this motherf—-er,’” Woodley said. “If you lose a fight you don’t be coming out of the gate like, you ain’t really in a position to call anybody out. You kind of just got to take a seat, sit down, be humble, get back on the grind, get ready to beat somebody up. But you don’t really get to call the shots like that, at least I don’t think you should. Some people do. You know you who are.”
