Former Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight title challenger Beth Correia was scheduled to face Irene Aldana back in January as part of the UFC St. Louis card, but was forced to withdraw from the fight after suffering an injury to her eye which required surgery.

Correia was then targeting a return to competitive action in March however, the Brazilian revealed to MMA Fighting on Tuesday that her return was postponed once again due a second surgery.

“I had a healing problem and had to do a second surgery to fix it,” Correia said. “I was using eye drops but they weren’t working, so I had to do another surgery by the end of February. Nothing serious, but I had to do it.”

Correia has a history of eye issues after suffering a detached retina in her right eye back in October 2014 during a training session; an injury which also required surgery. Correia is targeting a return to the Octagon by June or July.

Correia (10-3, 1 NC) has fought a number of former champions in the past, including Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey. She has wins inside the Octagon against Jessica Eye, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler; the latter two being members of Rousey’s infamous "Four Horsewomen." Correia used her wins against Duke and Baszler to campaign for a title shot against Rousey before losing the title fight by way of knockout in 34 seconds.
