Frankie Edgar will make his first Octagon foray at bantamweight against Pedro Munhoz at an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on July 11.

Edgar confirmed the matchup on his Twitter account following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. The UFC event does not have an official location, but it could take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas or on “Fight Island.” A flyweight matchup pitting Paige VanZant against Amanda Ribas will also reportedly take place on the card.

Edgar was supposed to make his 135-pound debut against Cory Sandhagen in January, but “The Answer” instead took a short-notice featherweight bout against Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night 165, where he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss on Dec. 21. As a result, Edgar was unable to take the fight against Sandhagen. The Toms River, N.J., native has challenged is a former UFC lightweight champion and a three-time challenger for featherweight gold.

Munhoz, meanwhile, saw a three-fight winning streak come to an end at UFC 238, where he dropped a unanimous verdict against Aljamain Sterling. “The Young Punisher” has won seven of his last nine Octagon appearances dating back to 2016, a streak that includes wins over Cody Garbrandt, Rob Font and Bryan Caraway.
