Fredy Serrano to Face Hector Sandoval at UFC on Fox 22 in Sacramento

A flyweight bout between Fredy Serrano and Hector Sandoval has been tacked onto the UFC on Fox 22 card, which goes down on Dec. 17 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif.

The UFC’s Spanish branch confirmed the pairing following an initial report from El Espectadador.

Colombia’s Serrano is coming off the first loss of his still-blossoming pro tenure. “El Profe” was a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” and though the 2008 Olympic wrestler didn’t make it to the finals, he quickly amassed a 2-0 record inside the Octagon, with both wins coming via knockout. But at UFC 201 in July, the Octagon MMA Colombia fighter dropped a hard-fought split decision to Ryan Benoit.

Sandoval, who has five times as many MMA fights as Serrano, was submitted by Wilson Reis in the first frame at UFC 201. The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for the Team Alpha Male fighter.

UFC of Fox 22 will be headlined by a strawweight clash between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. UFC on Fox 22 and will be televised live on Fox, with early prelims streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
