Abel Trujillo has withdrawn from his upcoming bout against Ross Pearson after suffering an undisclosed injury, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced on Monday.
Trujillo was originally paired with Bobby Green for the event, and then matched against Pearson when Green took a short-notice July 26 assignment against Josh Thomson.
Pearson will look to get back in the win column after a highly controversial split-decision loss to Diego Sanchez in June. The 29-year-old Englishman holds a 7-4 record with one no-contest inside the Octagon.
Maynard, 34, has suffered first-round technical knockouts in his last two outings against Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant. “The Bully” recently switched training camps, moving from American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif., to Power MMA in Gilbert, Ariz.
