Greg Hardy Now Set to Fight Ben Sosoli at UFC on ESPN 6 in Boston

Greg Hardy has had a change in opponent and date and is now set to be facing Australian heavyweight Ben Sosoli on Oct. 18 in Boston.

Former NFL All-Pro Hardy (5-1) was originally set to fight Jarjis Danho in the UFC’s return to Singapore on Oct. 26, but Danho withdrew from the fight for unspecified reasons and the promotion elected to move Hardy’s Octagon return up by a week. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report the change.

The 29-year-old Sosoli (7-2) was a contestant on Dana White's Contender Series and fought just last month against Dustin Joynson. The bout was ruled a no-contest when Joynson couldn’t continue after suffering an eye injury.

White said he wanted to give the Melbourne-based Sosoli another crack at earning a UFC contract and had mentioned including him in an episode of his “Looking for a Fight” series in Hawaii this fall. The last Octagon appearance for the controversial Hardy was a 44-second knockout of Juan Adams at UFC on ESPN 4 in July.

UFC on ESPN 6 take place in Boston on Oct. 18 and is set to be headlined by a key light heavyweight bout between the surging Dominick Reyes and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who will be making his 205-pound debut. The previously announced co-main event between featherweight contenders Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar is in jeopardy, as Magomedsharipov withdrew from the fight last week. The UFC has not announced whether Kattar will remain on the card, or the match will be rebooked for a later event.
